Why Whitworth patients choose us for hygiene and gum treatment

Whitworth patients come to us from Facit, Hallfold and Shawforth for calm, unhurried dentistry. Our team is used to welcoming people from across the Rochdale and Rossendale border, including nervous patients who want a practice that will take things at their pace.

Even with careful brushing, plaque hardens into tartar in places a toothbrush cannot reach. Over time it irritates the gums, causing bleeding, bad breath and, eventually, gum disease, which is the most common reason adults lose teeth.

We offer a straightforward scale, air polishing to lift stubborn tea, coffee and smoking stains, and periodontal (gum) treatment for people whose gums need more care.

Hygiene & Gum Health

Signs your gums need attention

  • Bleeding

Pink in the sink when you brush or floss is often the first sign of gum inflammation.

  • Bad breath

Breath that stays stale despite brushing can be a sign of bacteria below the gum line.

  • Receding gums

Teeth that look longer, or are suddenly sensitive at the gum line.

  • Loose teeth

Teeth that feel wobbly or have started to drift apart need checking promptly.

What happens

Three calm steps

  1. Step 1: Assess

We measure your gums and look at how much tartar and staining there is.

  2. Step 2: Clean

We gently remove tartar above and below the gum line, then polish or air polish.

  3. Step 3: Maintain

You get simple, personal advice and a recall plan to keep your gums healthy.
