Tooth extractions in Littleborough

We always try to save a tooth first. When that is not possible, we take it out as gently as we can, and talk you through every step.

About tooth extractions

A tooth may need to come out if it is badly broken, severely decayed, loose from gum disease, or causing repeated infections. Your dentist will explain why, and talk through options for filling the gap afterwards if you would like to.

If you are in pain right now, our same-day pain resolution appointment can include an extraction for a clear extra fee.

Tooth Extractions

How we keep you comfortable

  • Thorough numbing

We make sure the area is completely numb before we begin. You may feel pressure, but not pain.

  • Signals and breaks

Agree a simple hand signal and we will stop whenever you need a moment.

  • Calm explanations

We tell you what is happening as we go, so nothing is a surprise.

  • Clear aftercare

You leave with simple written instructions and a number to call if you are worried.

What happens

Three calm steps

  1. Step 1: Assess

We examine the tooth and take an X-ray to plan the gentlest approach.

  2. Step 2: Numb and remove

Once you are completely numb, we carefully loosen and remove the tooth.

  3. Step 3: Heal and replace

We check you are comfortable, give aftercare advice, and discuss replacement options.

Tooth Extractions: your questions answered

How much does an extraction cost?

Extractions cost £160 for incisors and canines, £190 for premolars and £225 for molars. As part of a £95 pain resolution appointment, the extra fee is £65, £95 or £130 depending on the tooth.

Will it hurt?

You should not feel pain during the extraction, only some pressure. Afterwards, the area may be sore for a few days, which normally settles with over-the-counter painkillers.

What should I do after an extraction?

Rest, avoid hot drinks, smoking and alcohol for the rest of the day, and do not rinse for 24 hours so the clot can settle. After that, rinse gently with warm salty water. If bleeding will not stop with firm pressure, call us.

Should I replace the missing tooth?

Gaps can let neighbouring teeth drift and change your bite. Dental implants, bridges and dentures are all options, and we will talk them through with you.
