Dental veneers in Littleborough

It can be hard to feel confident when teeth are discoloured, broken, heavily filled or out of line. Porcelain veneers can make a fantastic difference.

About dental veneers

Veneers are extremely thin porcelain coverings bonded onto the front surface of your teeth, a little like a false fingernail. They can be made for a single tooth that has darkened after root treatment, or for all the teeth that show when you smile.

Usually we create a wax model of your new teeth first, so you can see and approve the result before treatment starts. To help the veneer sit naturally under your lips, a minimal amount of the tooth surface is usually removed, with the area numbed using flavoured gels and local anaesthetic. You can listen to relaxing music during the procedure, and temporary coverings are fitted while our dental technician makes your porcelain veneers.

What veneers can improve

  • Discolouration

Teeth that do not respond to whitening, or a single dark tooth.

  • Chips and breaks

Broken edges and heavily filled front teeth.

  • Shape and size

Small, worn or uneven teeth, and minor gaps.

  • Alignment

Teeth that are slightly out of line, without braces.

What happens

Three calm steps

  1. Step 1: Design

We plan your smile and create a wax model so you can approve the look.

  2. Step 2: Prepare

We gently prepare the tooth surface and fit temporary veneers.

  3. Step 3: Bond

Your porcelain veneers are bonded in place and polished.

Looking after veneers

Modern bonding is very strong, but it is worth taking care when biting into anything very hard (a peach stone or a bone, for example) or very sticky foods that might pull on a veneer.

Good to know

Dental Veneers: your questions answered

How much do veneers cost?

Porcelain veneers are £650 per tooth. Composite bonding, a less invasive alternative for some people, is £300 per tooth.

Can I see what they will look like first?

Usually, yes. We create a wax model of your new teeth so you can see and approve the result before we begin.

Do veneers damage your teeth?

A small amount of the tooth surface is usually removed so the veneer sits naturally. We always keep this to a minimum, and will tell you if composite bonding would be a gentler option.

How long do veneers last?

With good care, porcelain veneers can last many years. Avoid biting very hard or sticky foods, and keep up regular check-ups.
