Comfort & care
A calm dentist for nervous patients
We understand that not everybody is eager to visit the dentist, and many people feel anxious about treatment. Every member of our team is trained to help you feel calm and ease your nerves.
About care for nervous patients
Dental anxiety is very common, and it is nothing to be embarrassed about. Perhaps you had a bad experience as a child, you dislike the sounds or smells, or it has simply been a long time. Whatever the reason, we will go at your pace.
Our practice has a calm, friendly atmosphere, and we treat every patient as we would want our own families to be treated. Our surgeries have soothing touches to help you relax, and you are welcome to listen to music during treatment.
Nervous Patients
How we help you feel at ease
Tell us first
Mention you are nervous when you book. We will allow extra time so nothing feels rushed.
Talk before treatment
Meet your dentist and talk things through before anything happens in the chair.
You are in control
Agree a stop signal. Raise your hand at any time and we will pause.
No surprises
We explain each step before we do it, in plain words, at your pace.
Small steps
Start with a simple check-up or clean, and build confidence from there.
No judgement
However long it has been, you will not be lectured or made to feel bad.
What happens
Three calm steps
Step 1: Get in touch
Call or send us a message. Tell us what worries you; it really helps us help you.
Step 2: A gentle first visit
Often just a chat and a look, with nothing done unless you are ready.
Step 3: Go at your pace
We plan any treatment in small, manageable steps that suit you.

Nervous Patients: your questions answered
I am terrified of the dentist. Can you still help?
Yes. Many of our patients started out very anxious. Let us know when you book, and we will take things slowly, explain everything and stop whenever you need to.
Will I be told off for not coming for years?
Never. We are just glad you are here. We will look at where things are now and make a plan together.
Can I bring someone with me?
Of course. You are welcome to bring a friend or family member for support.
Can I just come for a chat first?
Yes. A first appointment can simply be a conversation and a look, with no treatment unless you are ready.
