Why Newhey patients choose us for white composite fillings

Newhey is a close-knit village at the foot of the Pennines, and many of its families have been coming to Littleborough for their dentistry for years. We are close enough for a quick check-up before work, and for same-day help if a tooth suddenly starts to hurt.

Composite is a tooth-coloured material that bonds directly onto the surface of your tooth. It is used to fill cavities and can also make small cosmetic improvements where teeth have minor differences in position, shape or contour.

For small cosmetic changes, the underlying tooth is often left undisturbed, so an anaesthetic is rarely needed. Like natural teeth, composite can stain or chip over the years, and may need polishing or replacing in time. Composite is especially useful for younger patients whose teeth are still developing.

White Fillings

What white fillings can do

  • Repair decay

Replace decayed tooth with a strong filling that matches your natural shade.

  • Close small gaps

Add a little width to teeth to close small spaces between them.

  • Disguise a twisted tooth

Reshape a tooth so it lines up visually with its neighbours.

  • Fix chips and wear

Rebuild chipped or worn edges and restore a smooth, even smile.

  • Steady your bite

Stabilise your bite while we plan a longer-term restoration.

What happens

Three calm steps

  1. Step 1: Prepare

We numb the tooth if needed and gently remove any decay.

  2. Step 2: Match and build

We choose the shade, then build the filling up in thin layers, setting each with a blue light.

  3. Step 3: Shape and polish

We shape the filling to your bite and polish it to a natural shine.
