Why Newhey patients choose us for hygiene and gum treatment

Newhey is a close-knit village at the foot of the Pennines, and many of its families have been coming to Littleborough for their dentistry for years. We are close enough for a quick check-up before work, and for same-day help if a tooth suddenly starts to hurt.

Even with careful brushing, plaque hardens into tartar in places a toothbrush cannot reach. Over time it irritates the gums, causing bleeding, bad breath and, eventually, gum disease, which is the most common reason adults lose teeth.

We offer a straightforward scale, air polishing to lift stubborn tea, coffee and smoking stains, and periodontal (gum) treatment for people whose gums need more care.

Hygiene & Gum Health

Signs your gums need attention

  • Bleeding

Pink in the sink when you brush or floss is often the first sign of gum inflammation.

  • Bad breath

Breath that stays stale despite brushing can be a sign of bacteria below the gum line.

  • Receding gums

Teeth that look longer, or are suddenly sensitive at the gum line.

  • Loose teeth

Teeth that feel wobbly or have started to drift apart need checking promptly.

What happens

Three calm steps

  1. Step 1: Assess

We measure your gums and look at how much tartar and staining there is.

  2. Step 2: Clean

We gently remove tartar above and below the gum line, then polish or air polish.

  3. Step 3: Maintain

You get simple, personal advice and a recall plan to keep your gums healthy.
